Gauthama Buddha Matha is a Sri Lankan historical biographical film that tells the story of Mahapajapati Gotami, the foster mother of Gautama Buddha. After raising Prince Siddhartha following the death of Queen Maya, she later becomes the first Buddhist nun, dedicating her life to the Buddha s teachings and paving the way for women to join the Buddhist monastic order.
